Perspective drawing

While I was practicing drawing hands I realized that the hands would often need to be drawn with foreshorting as well as perspective. So I set out to study perspective while drawing hands.

 I just starting to understand how to use 1 and 2 point perspective and how that can apply to figure drawing.

  Here is a quick perspective study image. I decided add a little shading while I was at it.

Sketching hands

I hand a little time to practice today. In my last post I had said that I need to start focusing in on drawing hands, so that is what I have tried to do. If you are learning to draw people do not avoid the difficult stuff, like I do sometimes. I have to remind myself often just keep going even when I don't feel like it. Just draw, draw and draw some more.
 I know these sketches do not look that good, but these are practice sketches. I start by sketching out the basic shapes trying to keep proportion and then draw the details on top.

I really really need to work on drawing hands. Today was as good as any to start focusing in on drawing hands.

Today I grabbed an image for inspiration and reference. My goal was to take a few things I liked about it and create a concept image. This image was drawn and painted in Manga Studio 5.

Morning practice session

I was given some advice to keep drawing even when the results look like garbage. The reason is each week or each month you can look back and see your progress and know what to work on.

I have not had the time to paint or draw in several days.
Finally today had about an hour to do as much as I could.
